Title: Catling’s Bane (The Rose Shield Book 1). Author: D. Wallace Peach. Length: pages. Amazon. Genre: Science Fiction & Fantasy. When I finished this book, instead of instantly knowing what was going to write about in my review, I pretty much turned caveman mode and felt like rushing to all my friends, grabbing them each by the arms and yelling “THIS BOOK. Catling’s Bane, Book 1 of the Rose Shield, offers the reader an amazing journey into a world so believable that the characters seem to come alive on the page. This beautifully written science-fiction pulled me into a world that glitters with luminosity/5(33).

The Rose Shield – Gannon You’ve met a few characters from my WIP, The Rose Shield, which I’m delighted to say is back in play after 6 solid months of editing other books. This is an intro to Gannon.   Book Review: “The Rose Shield” Series by D. Wallace Peach Diana Wallace Peach has just released her latest series (The Shattered Sea) which made me feel guilty that she’d managed to produce another couple of books while I was still failing to crack on and talk about her previous epic.

The Rose & the Shield Kindle Edition by Elaine Barbieri (Author)/5(22). "The Rose and The Shield" is a quick read good for passing a few hours, but I wouldn't crack the cover expecting more than that.

I don't have the cover on the copy I had at home, and had assumed the story fell in the fantasy genre; so I was hella confused when the story started, and it took me a few pages to get used to the writing and pacing/5.

The Rose and the Shield is a follow up to Lily and the Sword and is set in England a year after the Norman is the very strong and independent mistress of Somerford and it's lands. Her people have been under attack and she needs help but is afraid to ask for it from her overlord Radulf (Lily and the Sword) because she feels that this would be a sign of weakness and he would take the land 4/5(5).

The Rose & the Shield. During the turbulent years following the conquest of England inloyalties are divided and danger abounds. For a knight in disguise and a lady who must hide her true identity, love flourishes, but trust is more painfully won/5.

The Rose and the Shield Book Summary and Study Guide Avon, Sep, pp. ISBN: InLord Radulf (see THE LILY AND THE SWORD) sends mercenary Gunnar Olafson and his men to check whether the widow Lady of Somerford has joined his enemies.

While Sara Bennett’s sophmore effort, The Rose and the Shield, isn’t flawless, it definitely put Bennett on my radar as an author who can deliver an exciting tale. Lady Rose took over as the leader of Somerfeld Manor upon her elderly husband’s death, but now finds herself in a tenuous position as mysterious strangers begin raiding her village.

This beautifully written science-fiction pulled me into a world that glitters with luminosity. Book III in the Rose Shield series was in my opinion the best book in the series so far.

The land of Ellegeance has become lore, the background of key characters fully established, so now, author D. Wallace Peach really lets fly with the story and this one is a gripping, engaging instalment/5.The Rose And The Shield By Sara Bennett - FictionDB.
